The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:

Applied Parameters: None

Summary

This feature enables you to select individual design objects in the current document. Certain design objects, once selected, can then be changed graphically with respect to their size and/or shape.

Access

This feature is accessed in the Schematic Editor and Schematic Library Editor by clicking on a placed design object.

Use

Position the cursor over the object you wish to select/graphically change then click. The object will become selected and editing handles will be shown at various editing points around the object. To change the shape and/or size of the object, click & drag an editing handle. The exact nature of the change will depend on the object you are editing.

As you click on a subsequent design object, the previous object will become deselected. If you want to build up a selection, use Shift+click on subsequent objects. Alternatively, disable the Click Clears Selection option on the Schematic - Graphical Editing page of the Preferences dialog.

Tips

  1. The selected object will be highlighted in the selection color defined in the Selections field of the Color Options region on the Schematic - Graphical Editing page of the Preferences dialog.
  2. Not all objects have properties that can be graphically edited. Net labels, components, design directives, etc., are a fixed size and shape. Using this feature will cause objects of these types to be selected only.
  3. The default behavior to focus a single design object is click to select. This can be changed by enabling the Shift Click To Select option on the Schematic - Graphical Editing page of the Preferences dialog. Click the associated Primitives button to access the Must Hold Shift To Select dialog from where you can configure which design objects require a Shift+click to select them and which can be selected with only a click.
  4. Where a group of objects overlap, use the command repeatedly to cycle through the objects, selection-wise, with the object at the front selected first then the object drawn next behind it selected, and so on.

Applied Parameters: ZoomOnFocusedObject=True

Summary

This command enables you to edit text entries on the current document, such as designator and comment text, directly rather than having to edit through the Properties panel.

Access

This command is accessed in the Schematic Editor and Schematic Library Editor by:

  • Clicking (or Shift+clicking, if configured that way) on the textual object once to select it, then after a short delay, clicking again  (or Shift+clicking, if configured that way) to enter in-place editing mode.
  • Selecting the textual object on which to perform in-place editing then using the F2 keyboard shortcut.
This feature is only available if the Enable In-Place Editing option is enabled on the Schematic - General page of the Preferences dialog. If this option is disabled, you will have to select the parent object and edit the text through the Properties panel.

Use

Select the text object that you wish to edit then activate the command - the text will be highlighted ready for direct editing.

Tips
