The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:


Applied Parameters: Size=1Mil

Summary

This command is used to set the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) step values - for the default Global Board Snap Grid - simultaneously to 1mil. These values together define the Snap Grid for manual movement and placement in the current document. The cursor automatically snaps to this grid, positioning the reference point of the object being placed onto the nearest grid location.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor, and PCB Library Editor, by:

  • Using the G keyboard shortcut, then choosing the 1 Mil command from the pop-up menu.
  • PCB Editor - choosing the 1 Mil entry on the Grids drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.
  • PCB Library Editor - choosing the 1 Mil entry on the Grids drop-down () of the PCB Lib Standard toolbar.

Use

After launching the command, the value for both the Step X and Step Y properties of the default Global Board Snap Grid will be set to 1mil, and the grid will update accordingly in the workspace.

Tips

  1. This command only affects the default snap grid for the board, and not any custom grids (cartesian and polar) that you may have defined.
  2. If the Step X and Step Y properties were previously unlinked, this command will re-link the two.
  3. If you are currently using metric units for your board, the equivalent converted value in mm will be used.
  4. The step values can be changed as required for the default snap grid, by editing the grid through the Grid Manager section of the Properties panel (when no objects are currently selected in the design workspace). Double-click the entry for the Global Board Snap Grid (or select and click the Properties button), and in the subsequent Cartesian Grid Editor dialog, make changes to the properties in the Steps region.

  • PCB Library Editor - choosing the 0.025 mm entry on the Grids drop-down () of the PCB Lib Standard toolbar.

Use

After launching the command, the value for both the Step X and Step Y properties of the default Global Board Snap Grid will be set to 0.025mm, and the grid will update accordingly in the workspace.

  • Choosing the View » Grids » Set Global Snap Grid command, from the main menus.
  • Using the Shift+Ctrl+G keyboard shortcut.
  • Using the G keyboard shortcut, then choosing the Set Global Snap Grid command from the pop-up menu.
  • PCB Editor - choosing the Set Global Snap Grid entry on the Grids drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.
  • PCB Library Editor - choosing the Set Global Snap Grid entry on the Grids drop-down () of the PCB Lib Standard toolbar.

Use

After launching the command, the Snap Grid (1..1000) dialog will appear. Enter a single value to be used for both the Step X and Step Y properties of the default Global Board Snap Grid and click OK - the grid will update accordingly in the workspace.

Tips

  1. This command only affects the default snap grid for the board, and not any custom grids (cartesian and polar) that you may have defined.
  2. If the Step X and Step Y properties were previously unlinked, this command will re-link the two.
  3. If you enter a snap grid setting without specifying units, the entry will be in the default measurement units employed for the design. Specifying units when entering the value (mil or mm) will change the default measurement units for the document to those specified, if not currently the default.
  4. The step values can be changed as required for the default snap grid, by editing the grid through the Grid Manager section of the Properties panel (when no objects are currently selected in the design workspace). Double-click the entry for the Global Board Snap Grid (or select and click the Properties button), and in the subsequent Cartesian Grid Editor dialog, make changes to the properties in the Steps region.
