True Windows Authentication
Altium Vault 3.0, in conjunction with Altium Designer 17.0, provides the ability to sign in to your Altium Vault using your active Windows session credentials. No longer do you have to specify the domain as part of logging in, you simply enable an option, and the system logs you in based on the credentials already supplied to access your computer - true Windows authentication.
Pre-requisites
For a user to be able to sign in to an Altium Vault using their Windows session credentials, that user must be set-up to use Windows authentication. When adding a new user for the vault, or editing the properties for an existing user - through the USERS page of the vault's browser-based interface - simply set the Authentication field to Windows, and enter the applicable Domain information for your organization.
Once a user is setup to be able to sign-in to the vault using their Windows credentials, this can be done from within Altium Designer, or from the vault's browser-based interface, as detailed in the following sections.
Signing in from Altium Designer
When signing in to the Altium Vault through Altium Designer, simply enable the Use Windows Session credentials option, in the Connecting to Altium Vault dialog. The User name and Password fields will be automatically filled with your Windows credentials (and become non-editable). Then simply click Login.
Signing in from a Web Browser
When signing in to the Altium Vault through the vault's browser-based interface, simply enable the Use Windows Session credentials option, on the Login page. The USER NAME and PASSWORD fields will be automatically filled with your Windows credentials (and become non-editable). Then simply click Sign in.
