Summary
This command enables you to import supply chain rankings defined in an existing ActiveBOM document (created in any version of Altium Designer), into the ActiveBOM document currently open as the active document.
Access
This command is accessed from the ActiveBOM Editor by choosing the Tools » Import Ranks command from the main menus.
Use
After launching the command, a standard Open dialog will appear. Use this dialog to browse to the required ActiveBOM document (*.BomDoc). This can be an ActiveBOM document that was created in any version of Altium Designer.
The chosen (previous ActiveBOM document) will be compared against the current ActiveBOM document, and supply chain rankings imported for BOM Items whose DesignItemIDs match. When DesignItemIDs match the ranking of existing MPNs in the solutions will be updated, and additional MPNs that are detected in the imported BomDoc will be added as additional solutions. Note that only SPNs that were pinned in the imported BomDoc will automatically appear after importing. Click the Refresh button to force an update of all SPNs.
Versions of Altium Designer prior to 18.0 used a different implementation of ActiveBOM, and a different approach to supply chain rankings. If importing from an ActiveBOM document that was created in Altium Designer 17.1 or earlier, the mapping of rankings - from old world to new - is as follows:
- 1 star from the old ActiveBOM document becomes 3 custom stars in the current ActiveBOM document.
- 2 stars from the old ActiveBOM document becomes 4 custom stars in the current ActiveBOM document.
- 3 stars from the old ActiveBOM document becomes 5 custom stars in the current ActiveBOM document.
Tips
- If an older design project (pre-Altium Designer 18.0) is opened in a later version of the software, and that project has an ActiveBOM document defined for it, then this import ranks process is automatically applied when opening that existing ActiveBOM document.
