Save & Update Project

The Project | Project Actions | Save Project, Update Project and Save Project to Server commands allow you to save your project locally or to the Personal Space, and to update a project that has been edited by a user with whom the project is shared.

A modified project is appended with an asterisk next to its entry in the Projects panel.

Save Project

This command is used to save the project locally. The command is available after making edits to the schematic or PCB associated with the project. After using the command, the project is saved, the "*" is removed from the project entry and the button is no longer available. This denotes that the local project is up to date.

This command is the same as Save on the right-click menu for a project entry in the Projects panel.

Update Project

Use this command to update the project if it has been changed by a user with whom the project is shared or to keep the version held in the local cache. Once selected, you'll be presented with the Merge Project dialog, which offers the choice of retaining the local project version (Keep working copy version), or adopting the version in the Personal Space (Keep revision version) – choose the appropriate option from the dialog’s User Action drop-down menu, or select the option from the Apply for all menu so that it applies to all file entries.

Updating the project by retaining your local version will change it to a Modified status, because while now up to date, it still does not match the version in the Personal Space. The project can then be saved to the Personal Space to synchronize the Personal Space version with yours, however the other user’s local version will now be out of date.
This command is also on the right-click menu for a project entry in the Projects panel.

Save Project to Server

This command is used to save any changes in the project to the Personal Space. Be mindful that any users with which the project is shared will also see those changes. Once selected, you'll be presented with the Save to Server dialog, where you can double-check what is going to be saved to the Personal Space.

After evaluation, you can add an optional Comment to the project save and proceed by clicking OK. Once saved to the Personal Space, the modified files in the Projects panel will return to a green checkmark (), indicating that the local project is now synchronized with its Personal Space counterpart.

This command is also on the right-click menu for a project entry in the Projects panel and the same as Save to Server to the right of the project entry in the panel.
