The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:


Applied Parameters: Object = Absolute

Summary

This command is used to jump to the absolute origin of the document.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Absolute Origin command, from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+Home keyboard shortcut.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Absolute Origin command.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will jump to the absolute origin at the lower-left corner of the workspace.


Applied Parameters: Object = Relative

Summary

This command is used to jump to the relative origin of the current document (PCB document), or the location of the component reference point (PCB Library document).

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor, and PCB Library Editor, by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Current Origin command, from the main menus (PCB Editor), or the Edit » Jump » Reference command, from the main menus (PCB Library Editor).
  • Using the Ctrl+End keyboard shortcut.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the relevant command from the context menu - Current Origin (PCB Editor), or Reference (PCB Library Editor).

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will jump to the current (or relative) origin in the workspace, as marked by the coordinates 0,0.

Tips

  1. In the PCB Editor, to set the relative origin back to the default absolute origin, at the extreme lower-left of the document workspace, use the Edit » Origin » Reset command, from the main menus.
  2. In the PCB Library Editor, set the component reference point (relative origin) to either Pin 1 of the footprint, the center of the footprint, or a specific location within the workspace, using resources based on the SetComponentReference command.
  3. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = Location

Summary

This command is used to jump to any location in the current document, based on a user-specified X-Y coordinate.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor, and PCB Library Editor, by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » New Location command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the New Location command.

Use

After launching the command, the Jump To Location dialog will appear. Enter values for the X and Y coordinates within the workspace, for the location you wish the cursor to jump to, and click OK. The cursor will jump to the specified location.

Tips

  1. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = Component

Summary

This command is used to jump to a specific component within the current design.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Component command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Component command.

Use

After launching the command, the Component Designator dialog will appear. Type in the component designator to jump to that component. If you are unsure of the designator, type ? and click OK to launch the Components Placed dialog, which lists all components in the design. The cursor will jump to the reference point of the component you select.

Tips

  1. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = Net

Summary

This command is used to locate a specific net within the design.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Net command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Net command.

Use

After launching the command, the Net Name dialog will appear. Type in the name of the net you wish to jump to, or type ? and press OK to open the Nets Loaded dialog, containing a list of all loaded nets for the design. The cursor will jump to the nearest pin that belongs to the net you select.

Tips

  1. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = Pad

Summary

This command is used to jump to a specific component pad.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Pad command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Pad command.

Use

After launching the command, the Jump To Pad Number dialog will appear. Enter the required pad of the desired component in the form ComponentDesignator-PadDesignator (e.g. U1-6) and click OK. The cursor will jump to the center of the specified pad.

Tips

  1. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = String

Summary

This command is used to locate a particular string in the current design document.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » String command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the String command.

Use

After launching the command, the Jump To String dialog will appear. Type in the string that you wish to jump to, or type ? and click OK to open the Strings dialog, containing a list of all strings in the design. The cursor will jump to the bottom-left corner of the string you select.

Tips

  1. The system will perform three searches: First for a string that matches the specified string in both case, characters and length; then for a string with the same characters in it but perhaps having more characters; and finally for a string with the same characters, ignoring case.
  2. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = DRCError

Summary

This command is used to jump to, and cycle through, all error markers in the current design document.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Error Marker command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Error Marker command.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will jump to the first Design Rule Check (DRC) error marker, centered in the main design window. Repeatedly using the command will cause a jump to a second error marker and so on.

Tips

  1. This command will jump to an error marker, irrespective of whether or not the violation is waived.
  2. Interrogate the violation(s) associated to the object under the cursor by right-clicking and choosing the relevant command from the Violations sub-menu.


Applied Parameters: Object = Selected

Summary

This command is used to jump to, and cycle through, all selected design objects in the current document.

Access

This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor, and PCB Library Editor, by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Jump » Selection command, from the main menus.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the Selection command.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will jump to the first selected object, zoomed and centered in the main design window. Repeatedly using the command will jump to a second selected object and so on, cycling through all selected objects in the current document.

Tips

  1. The command cycles through the selected objects in the order in which they were originally added to the selection.


Applied Parameters: Object = JumpToLocationn (where n is in the range 1 to 10)

Summary

This command is used to jump to a position in the current design document, whose coordinates have been previously stored in the indicated location marker.

Access

The related indexed commands are accessed from the PCB Editor:

  • From the Edit » Jump » Location Marks sub-menu.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the relevant indexed command from the Location Marks sub-menu.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will jump to the position that has been stored in the indicated location marker. If no location has been stored in the marker, a dialog will appear, confirming that the location marker has not been set.

Tips

  1. The cursor will be positioned on the target, only redrawing the screen if the search target is outside of the current display area. When a redraw is needed, the target will be centered in the main design window, where possible.


Applied Parameters: Object = PlaceLocationn (where n is in the range 1 to 10)

Summary

This command is used to store the coordinates of a position in the current design document, as defined by the user, in the indicated location marker.

Access

The related indexed commands are accessed from the PCB Editor:

  • From the Edit » Jump » Set Location Marks sub-menu.
  • Pressing the J key in the workspace to access the Jump pop-up menu, then choosing the relevant indexed command from the Set Location Marks sub-menu.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will change to a crosshair. Position the cursor at the point in the workspace that you wish to create a marker and click. The coordinates of this position will be stored in the indicated location marker.

Tips

  1. A new position assigned to a location marker will overwrite a previously defined position.
  2. Location markers are saved with the design, so that the user-defined positions contained within can still be accessed between design sessions.
  3. A set position can be accessed quickly by using the corresponding Jump to Location Mark command.


Applied Parameters: Object=SELECTED|Type=FIRST

Summary

This command is used to jump to the first primitive design object, in a selection of primitive design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the primitives that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the first primitive in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window.

Tips

  1. The primitive jumped to will be the first primitive that was included in the selection.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=Previous

Summary

This command is used to jump to the previous primitive design object, in a selection of primitive design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the primitives that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the previous primitive in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window. Repeated use of the command will cycle backwards through all primitive objects in the selection.

Tips

  1. The command uses the order in which the primitives were originally included in the selection, to determine which is the previous primitive to cycle to.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=Next

Summary

This command is used to jump to the next primitive design object, in a selection of primitive design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the primitives that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the next primitive in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window. Repeated use of the command will cycle forwards through all primitive objects in the selection.

Tips

  1. The command uses the order in which the primitives were originally included in the selection, to determine which is the next primitive to cycle to.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=Last

Summary

This command is used to jump to the last primitive design object, in a selection of primitive design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the primitives that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the last primitive in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window.

Tips

  1. The primitive jumped to will be the last primitive that was included in the selection.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=FIRSTGROUP

Summary

This command is used to jump to the first group design object, in a selection of group design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the group objects that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the first group object in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window.

Tips

  1. The group object jumped to will be the first group object that was included in the selection.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=PREVIOUSGROUP

Summary

This command is used to jump to the previous group design object, in a selection of group design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the group objects that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the previous group in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window. Repeated use of the command will cycle backwards through all group objects in the selection.

Tips

  1. The command uses the order in which the group objects were originally included in the selection, to determine which is the previous group object to cycle to.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=NEXTGROUP

Summary

This command is used to jump to the next group design object, in a selection of group design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the group objects that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the next group object in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window. Repeated use of the command will cycle forwards through all group objects in the selection.

Tips

  1. The command uses the order in which the group objects were originally included in the selection, to determine which is the next group object to cycle to.


Applied Parameters: Object=Selected|Type=LASTGROUP

Summary

This command is used to jump to the last group design object, in a selection of group design objects, in the current document.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the  button on the Find Selection drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.

Use

First, ensure that all of the group objects that you want to be considered in the jump are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the last group object in the selection will be centered and zoomed in the main design window.

Tips

  1. The group object jumped to will be the last group object that was included in the selection.
