The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:


Applied Parameters: None

Summary

This command is used to change the view of the board (or component) in 3D so that you are looking straight down from above (perpendicular), with zero rotation.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor in 3D Layout Mode by:

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Zero Rotation command from the main menus.
  • Using the 0 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the board from above and with no rotation.

Tips

  1. In addition, you can use the applicable drop-down field on the PCB Standard toolbar (PCB Editor) or the PCB Lib Standard toolbar (PCB Library Editor) to quickly choose from a set of predefined 3D views when viewing your board (or library components) in 3D.
  2. The rotation angle step is set to 30° by default, and the pan distance step is set to 500mils (12.7mm) by default. These settings can be accessed and edited in the Other section of the PCB Editor - General page of the Preferences dialog.


Applied Parameters: To=Rotate90

Summary

This command is used to change the view of the board (or component) in 3D so that you are looking straight down from above (perpendicular) with 90 degrees (clockwise) rotation in the X-plane.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor in 3D Layout Mode by:

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » 90 Degree Rotation command from the main menus.
  • Using the 9 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the board from above and with 90 degrees (clockwise) rotation in the X-plane.

Tips

  1. In addition, you can use the applicable drop-down field on the PCB Standard toolbar (PCB Editor) or the PCB Lib Standard toolbar (PCB Library Editor) to quickly choose from a set of predefined 3D views when viewing your board (or library components) in 3D.
  2. The rotation angle step is set to 30° by default, and the pan distance step is set to 500mils (12.7mm) by default. These settings can be accessed and edited in the Other section of the PCB Editor - General page of the Preferences dialog.


Applied Parameters: To=RotateOrtho

Summary

This command is used to change the view of the board (or component) in 3D so that you are looking at the board from an orthogonal perspective.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor in 3D Layout Mode by:

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Orthogonal Rotation command from the main menus.
  • Using the 8 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the board from an orthogonal perspective (looking from above, and from the left).

Tips

  1. In addition, you can use the applicable drop-down field on the PCB Standard toolbar (PCB Editor) or the PCB Lib Standard toolbar (PCB Library Editor), to quickly choose from a set of predefined 3D views when viewing your board (or library components) in 3D.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the entire board from the top.

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Bottom Side command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+Num1 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the entire board from the bottom.

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Left Edge command from the main menus.
  • Using the Num3 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the left edge of the board.

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Right Edge command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+Num3 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed, if necessary, so that you are viewing the right edge of the board.

Summary

This command is used to change the view of the board (or component) in 3D so that you are looking at a flipped isometric view.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor in 3D Layout Mode by:

  • Choosing the View » 3D View Control » Flipped Isometric View command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+Num0 keyboard shortcut.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 3D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name, or use the 3 keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the 3D view will be changed so that you are viewing the flipped isometric view.

Tip

In addition, you can use the applicable drop-down field on the PCB Standard toolbar (PCB Editor) or the PCB Lib Standard toolbar (PCB Library Editor) to quickly choose from a set of predefined 3D views when viewing your board (or library components) in 3D.
